Molecular hydrogen water offers good news (and relief) for rheumatoid arthritis sufferers.

Molecular hydrogen water

A slew of new studies have found that drinking molecular hydrogen water may help to put the brakes on the progression of rheumatoid arthritis while also helping to ease its symptoms. That’s good news for those who suffer from this life-long painful condition.

If you aren’t familiar with it, rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that occurs when the body’s immune system goes haywire and attacks its own tissue and joints. The result is intense pain and swelling in the joints that over time can lead to bone erosion and joint deformity.

Doctors are unclear what causes rheumatoid arthritis and at present there is no known cure. However, medication is often used to alleviate symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. Of course, like most prescription medications available today, those used to treat rheumatoid arthritis come with their own issues and side effects. That’s why the recent news on the use of molecular hydrogen water to treat this condition is such a breakthrough.

Study after study has found that molecular hydrogen water may help to reduce the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis while slowing the disease’s progression –all without the harsh side effects caused by prescription medications.

In one study, published in the American Journal of Translational Research researchers found that orally administered hydrogen protected cells against inflammation in mice with rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases caused and/or aggravated by oxidative stress.

These results were confirmed in a similar study published in the journal Medical Gas Research. In this study, researchers followed twenty rheumatoid arthritis patients who drank H2 [hydrogen] water everyday for eight weeks. They concluded that “patients who drank the high H2 [hydrogen] water had marked reduction in disease activity, and a significant decrease in urinary 8-OHdG,” (a urinary marker indicating oxidative stress within the body).

Finally, this review paper, written by physicians at Haradoi Hospital’s Department of Rheumatology and Orthopedic Surgery in Japan concluded that “the consumption of water with a high concentration of molecular hydrogen significantly improved the disease activity and reduced the oxidative stress in RA [rheumatoid arthritis]. Dr. Toru Ishibashi, the study’s lead author, went on to note that “Hseemed to complement or provide a substitute for conventional therapy by reducing oxidative stress and improving damage associated with RA.”

Roughly 1.3 million Americans currently suffer from rheumatoid arthritis with more and more patients diagnosed every year. Molecular hydrogen water offers a safe and effective method of treating the symptoms of this condition while slowing its progression. Now that’s some good news.
